Accessibility

The Catalyst 'Pass on Your Skills' website has been designed for maximum accessibility. The following features have been built in to allow as many people as possible to benefit from the information on the site:

Text size

Visitors to the Pass on Your Skills website can choose to re-size the text that appears on each webpage, making the font size bigger or smaller to suit their eyes.

To re-size the text you can simply change the settings of your own web browser, so your browser will view text as you wish:

Setting your text size using Microsoft Internet Explorer

Setting your text size using Netscape Navigator

Increasing your default text size using IE Increasing your default text size using Netscape Navigator

Text alternatives to graphics

All images on the site are backed up by "alt tags". These text alternative tags allow browsers to read a text description of the graphics instead.

Browsers that do not support images, and specialist browsers for the blind, can read out the alt tags and let the visitor know what is displayed.

Some browsers will read the alt tags when the mouse is moved over them.

Reader friendly

The use of white background throughout the site, with plain black text, makes reading easier on the eyes, and allows the reader to take in more information.

Fewer graphics

We have chosen to use few images on the site, and those we do have are relatively small. This allows pages to download quicker, even on slow connections.

Compatibility

This site has been designed to be as compatible as possible with different computers and web browsers. Where technology is used that may be incompatible with certain set-ups, a text alternative is provided.

Access Keys

To enable users to navigate the website via the keyboard, the following standard accesskey assignments have been used in all the web pages:

0 = Accessibility page

1 = Home page

2 = About Us page

3 = Industry Sectors page

4 = News & Press section

5 = FAQs page

6 = Application page

7 = Contact Us page

8 = Site Map page

If your browser is Internet Explorer, use the Alt Key plus accesskey (e.g. Alt+1), then press Enter. Please note: some browsers provide their own shortcut keys and do not use the access key attribute.
