What links LLUK, Catalyst and Pass on Your Skills?

LLUK is responsible for the management and implementation of the 'Pass on Your Skills' initiative which is part of Catalyst. Pass on Your Skills will enable vocational practitioners such as those working in Health & Social Care and Engineering to pass on their skills to the next set of newly qualified professionals in these vocational areas. Pass on Your Skills is part of a wider initiative called Catalyst which aims to create new opportunities for further education (FE) providers to shape the workforce of the future.

What is Catalyst?

The Catalyst initiative has been set up to drive recruitment initiatives across the further education sector, ensuring that staff have the necessary skills to deliver exceptional teaching and training to their relevant sectors and are backed by world-class leadership.

How does Catalyst work?

Over the next three years, Catalyst will run four related initiatives; Pass on Your Skills will provide opportunities for skilled specialists to move into teaching roles within FE; Make a Difference will encourage talented graduates to build a career in FE; Business Talent will help FE providers attract talented managers from other sectors; Business Interchange will give FE staff the chance to work more closely with local businesses and update their skills in industry.

Pass on Your Skills is an initiative that has been set up to encourage vocational and technical practitioners to use their knowledge and experience in their sector to become teachers, trainers or tutors to pass on their skills to the workforce of the future.

How does Pass on Your Skills work?

Pass on Your Skills will implement a series of high profile recruitment and training initiatives targeting a number of key business sectors. The initiative intends to highlight the benefits of working in the FE sector, and the opportunities for you to work in the further education sector as a teacher, tutor or trainer.

What is the aim of Pass on Your Skills?

The aim of Pass on Your Skills is to ensure that further education (FE) staff have the skills and expertise required to meet the needs of the sectors they serve by raising awareness of the opportunities for technical and vocational practitioners to move into appropriate teaching roles to pass on their skills to the workforce of the future.

How will Pass on Your Skills benefit Further Education Colleges?

Pass on Your Skills will ensure that further education colleges are able to fill key vacancies within shortage areas in the sectors that they often have difficulty in recruiting teachers, tutors and trainers with the appropriate level of skills.

The application deadline has now passed. What can I do next?

The deadline for applying for one of the free PTLLS courses for Engineering and Health and Social Care has now passed.  A brochure will be available through this website soon to help give you some advice and guidance regarding alternative routes to a career teaching within further education.
