About Catalyst

LLUK has been commissioned by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) to deliver four sub-programmes, which are collectively known as Catalyst.

Catalyst aims to ensure that management in the further education system is world-class, and that it has teachers, tutors and trainers with the right level of skill and expertise to deliver effectively to the sectors they serve. Over the next three years until March 2010, Catalyst will introduce recruitment schemes for graduates, managers and vocational and technical experts, and provide new opportunities for tutors to update their skills in industry.

Catalyst comprises four key areas:

Make a Difference will encourage motivated graduate calibre individuals to build a management career in further education.

Business Talent will help further education providers attract experienced private and public sector managers to make the transition into senior management roles within further education.

Business Interchange will give further education staff the chance to update their skills in industry by working more closely with local businesses.

Pass on Your Skills is also part of Catalyst and will enable practitioners in a number of industries, such as those working in construction and engineering, to pass on their skills to someone entering their industry.
